Heichal of the Baal Hatanya

The main building in Haditch, the Heichal of the Baal Hatanya, was planned and designed by architect Tzvika Weinberger in a spectacular architectural wonder featuring a central round edifice flanked by two arc-shaped buildings that connect to the central building with bridges and ground-level passages.  Construction was carried out under the meticulous supervision of famed architect Rabbi Aharon Estreicher who spared no effort to ensure that the structure was built to perfection.

Early stages of construction met with many a challenge, including the water-logged land area surrounding the Ohel which results from a river that runs at a distance of only six feet from the site. To overcome this problem, the building was constructed using a special technique employing a large number of foundations in close saturation. In total, 260 cement foundations support the Heichal of the Baal Hatanya!

Funding for this massive project was generously provided by the Rohr family, and specifically Rabbi Yekusiel Yehudah Rohr who appreciated the significance of this holy project and dedicated the Heichal in memory of his esteemed father, Rabbi Shmuel Rohr, z”l.  The many visitors to the site enjoy the fruits of the Rohr family’s generosity and elevate R’ Shmuel’s soul in heaven through their learning and prayers in the Heichal dedicated in his memory.
